Stick that thermometer where?

There have been few times in Maddie's life when I thought that she was running a high temperature. I have read that the most accurate way to take a baby's temp is rectally, but that you can use the underarm method first as a gauge to see if you really need to do that. Luckily for me, Maddie's underarm temp has always read normal, up until now. The past few days Maddie has been running a low grade fever but I havent been too worried. She has been acting normal and has had a good appetite so I figured it was teething. But last night when my "clean everything off my plate, everytime" Maddie turned down a chance to have summer squash, strained peas and rice(yum, right?) I knew what had to be done. Her underarm temp. was reading 100 degrees so to put my mind at ease and make sure my poor baby wasnt running a 103 degree temp, off came the diaper for a more accurate read. It wasnt even that bad and it proved to actually be easier than trying to get a reading from her mouth or her underarm. The digital thermometer seemed to take the reading faster, as if even it knew that an unpleasant job had to be done in a timely fashion. Well, her temp. was still low grade at 101.5 so we gave her some baby Tylenol and put her to bed. Now today she seems to be fine. No fever and as feisty as ever. I really think she is teething and we will see some pearly whites soon.

  1. Digital is good... especially when it comes to thermometers! (cameras- even better :) So now having experienced the rectal version of the thermometer I think you have been officially inducted into the Mom Hall of Fame.

Her pictures look like a little girl that is glad to be feeling better...Got the keys and ready to! ---but maybe after a nap.

Her little summer outfit is cute... polka dots are fun. What size is she wearing now?

So glad she is feeling better...
    Love you all!
