I am yet again on a low carb diet and I am dragging Daniel with me. I know, I know, fad diets are not the way to properly lose weight but for some reason low carb has always been an easy, quick way to shed a few pounds and I am desperate to at least get back down to my pre-baby weight. One of the staples of the diet is an egg for breakfast, hard boiled is the easiest to eat while you are holding a 16 pound baby in one hand. Now I have never proclaimed myself as great in the kitchen or anything but I always thought that I could execute an easy task such as hard boiling an egg without any problems. But it seems I am wrong. You would think that hard boiling eggs wouldnt be that difficult, take a pan, put some eggs in it and boil, right? Yeah thats what I thought. But the last time I cooked the eggs, I forgot about them on the stove because I was busy with Maddie and I must have cooked them so long that the shells melted to them or something. They were absolutely impossible to peel! I had no idea how frustrating it is to peel an egg one millimeter sections at a time. So this time I put the eggs on the stove and stayed in the kitchen and vigilantly watched them come to a boil, I was planning on timing them perfectly. It got pretty boring, so I went into the living room for just a minute to look up something on the internet and what do you think happened? I completely forgot the eggs again. Shoot!
Anyway I hope they came out ok, I guess I will find out in the morning. Well if they dont peel this time, at least they made for a neat photo.
The boiling of water is easy... it is the rest that can be a trick... And YES!, they did make a nice picture. I like it!
ReplyDeleteHere's my take on boiling eggs...I bring the water to a boil first, then drop the eggs in, carefully. Some of the eggs could crack and leak. If so, then you have a bit of 'poached' egg white in your water... Oh well, maybe not pretty, but eatible. I let them boild for a bit, put a lid on them, and turn off the heat and go away. When I am ready to peel them, I keep the egg submersed in water while I peel it. Lubricates it, maybe???. 99% of the time the egss peel nicely and easily... I don't know which (if any) makes a difference, but is seems to work.
There! more than you ever wanted to know, from me, about boiled eggs!!!
And, good luck on your diet :)
Take care!
Thanks for the tips on boiling eggs, I have definitely learned to bring the water to a boil before I put them in. I dont know how long this diet will last, Daniel is already craving some chips and I am seriously craving some donuts!
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to our diets, sometimes we just need to give in, try not to go hog wild, and then get back to our plan! You know... get over the craving move on. For instance... Saturday, Mom and I went to lunch (typical Saturday). We always order a whatever and share it, so we did our usual. Well then after lunch she decided she had a real need for something sweet, chocolate, and gooey! I didn't feel the need, but gave in... it will be a long time before we do that again! I don't suggest a hot fudge brownie sundae---way too much!!! :-)
ReplyDeletewell a hot fudge brownie sunday sure sounds better than boiled eggs. maybe hot fudge boiled egg sunday?
ReplyDeleteLOVEZ

Would you like that with cool whip on top? or mayonnaise :0
ReplyDeleteStephanie, I think someone is going crazy here...
