When I tell women that I am having a girl, almost all of them respond at some point with "Oh you will have so much fun dressing her up". I smile and nod in agreeance but I know for a fact this may be a challenge. Everywhere I go, I usually peek in the girls section and am disappointed by all the powder pink and "too cutesy" stuff. So I have been scouring the net for some inspiration on how I am going to try to dress this little one. To my surprise I have found quite a bit of relatively affordable and absolutely adorable stuff. All the stuff above I found at the Gap. I just love the dark blues and oranges. So Cute! Target has some great stuff too, I think chocolate brown and animal/nature prints are a good way to go too. So maybe this wont be so hard after all, I already want to start buying some dresses now, although I think it is a bit early. I am also considering trying to actually sew something. They have some awesome fabrics available, check out these cute things that those crafty people on etsy.com made, if only I was that crafty:

Okay, I'll have to admit! Last Saturday when I was at Costco, I couldn't help myself and had to look at little girl clothes. Was going to buy something, but nothing there really WOWed me. They had mostly little summer dresses & I figured that was pressing it at this point. So! I will keep my eyes out, and buy when I'm WOWed and it feels right. Grandpa Dan is and has been looking for little cowboy(girl?) boots!
ReplyDeleteCowboy boots would be so cute!
ReplyDeleteI know I look everywhere I go now and I have seen some cute stuff but I havent bought anything. I keep thinking it is too early but I noticed that summer stuff is on sale now and next summer she will be in the 6 month old stuff and that is where most of the cute stuff is. I dont know anything about dressing a newborn, but I am going to assume I should be looking for alot of warm onesies to get us through the winter months. I dont know, I keep thinking I will figure it all out, but I am not too sure. -Stephanie
Wow ... you ladies need to keep it down in here. All this girlie girl talk. Sheesh. I think I am going to show her how to dig up worms and use a hammer.

Stacey
Cowgirlie boots, hammers, worms... sounds like it all goes together to me!
ReplyDeleteWas back at Costco last night looking again! You know, I said i was looking for the one WOW, but I just realized... I don't have to stop at one! And I'm looking for that most adorable, best little stuffed-toy horse, too. Bet she has a herd of horses before too long!
Don't worry, you WILL figure it all out, even tho they don't come with instruction manuals. If they did, we probably wouldn't look at the instructions until we had it all messed up! Of course, as you well know, we are all here to be your helpers. Will try to wait until you ask, but you know how that goes!
By the way, Grandma Ellie said, "...you know I used to crochet little booties for all you kids" and I immediately said, "I challenge you to do it again, let's go get the yarn!" So, beware!
Take care!
