Pup pics!

Daniel and I finally drove to North Carolina on Saturday to pick up our puppy. It had been two weeks since we had seen him but he hadnt changed much. He slept in my lap the whole way home while we tried to figure out a name for him. I cant believe we didnt have one picked out since we had two weeks to think about it.
Daniel and I had picked a few favorites but we decided to see what his personality was like before naming him. On the way home we thought about the names that each of us liked, me-Tucker & Dutch; Daniel- Kelo & Kona, but none of them seemed to fit. Then Daniel mentioned the name Cooper and somehow it just sounded right. Then Daniel said Cooper again and his stumpy little tail twitched in his sleep as if he was approving it. So thats his name and I think it suites him.

His first night at home was a very long one. Daniel wants to crate train him but I dont know if either of us have the heart for it. Who could comfortably lay in bed while their little puppy, missing his mother and siblings, is frantically whining and trying to dig out of the crate? Needless to say, after only about five minutes he was up in our bed curled up between us and fast asleep. Poor Daniel had to get up five times during the night to let him out. Since I am taking tomorrow off from work, I will be getting up with him tonight, I sure hope he sleeps through the night.

He didnt know quite what to make of the sheep.

One more puppyless weekend...

Daniel and I were extremely excited to get our puppy this weekend, it was all we could talk about all week. But after much consideration and research, we decided that it would be best for the pup to stay with his mom and siblings for one more week. We made the best of our weekend anyways. Saturday morning Daniel made these crazy strawberry crepes that I just had to take a picture of. We are going to try to make a tradition out of Saturday morning breakfast.

After breakfast, we went to some antique stores. Finding a bedroom dresser that we like and can afford is becoming quite the task. We couldnt find anything but we did experience our first antique auction. If you have the time to spend waiting for the auctioneer to get to the item you want then you could probably get a good deal. We didnt stick around to find out.

At the antique store there was this huge wooden ship, this is a close up of the guys on the ship. I wanted to get another pic of the whole ship but the owner of the antique shop walked up behind me so I put the camera up. I also wanted to take the ship home but it was $2000.

First Fire

Ever since we moved into this house, Daniel has wanted to build a fire in the fireplace. Despite the fact that the temperatures had barely dipped below 90 degrees.
But the past couple nights have definitely had a bit of an autumn chill, so Daniel finally got to build his fire. He was not discouraged when the wood that he gathered was too damp to burn, instead he collected anything he thought would burn which included pine cones, a newspaper and a pizza box and set it a blaze.
Since I have never lived in a house with a working fireplace, I did not share quite the enthusiasm as Daniel did but I will have to admit that there is something about a crackling fire at night, it adds a sense of rustic to the houseand makes it feel very homey.

You cant really tell by this picture but he is about to use our hammer as a stoker.

A Trip Worth Taking.

Today Daniel and I drove six hours total to pick out our new boxer puppy! Isnt he the cutest thing you have ever seen! We have wanted a dog for so long, its one of the biggest reasons we bought a house, because we were sick of landlords telling us we couldnt have a dog. He wont be ready to come home until next weekend so we will have to make the trip again but it will be worth it. Now we have a whole week to figure out what to name him.

Below are photos that I took during our road trip. The fields were full of cotton. I have lived in Va most of my life and never seen so much cotton, usually soy beans or corn so I made daniel pullover so I could get a photo. I also thought this old derelict home was pretty cool. Took way too many pics of it. I think this is the best one. It was such a beautiful sunny day with a hint of fall in it.

I get so bored when I am the passenger!

I always get so snap happy when Daniel is at the wheel. What says American road trip better than McDonalds.

I cant believe i sit through this crap everyday.

One for the Bats!

Well, here is the bat house that I keep talking about and very few people have seen. I think its cool. I for one can appreciate a good bat now and then especially considering the bugs around here!javascript:void(0)

A tombstone to welcome visitors?

Doesnt this look like it should be in a graveyard? Its not. Its the first thing you see when you turn into the neighborhood. It was placed out there by the city when they were constructing a little park in the same area. It looks like it needs something carved on it. Daniel thinks they will hang a sign on it. Its been out there blank for over a month. You would think they could have picked a better shape or used a different material. Very ominous, perhaps its for halloween.

Here is another pic of the neighborhood, the creek. This pic was taken during low tide so it doesnt look the greatest.
